MACLEAR Summer Bulletin 2002

Enjoying a steady stream of great reviews and favorable CD sales in six countries, MACLEAR has decided to take a break from the hustle of the Music Biz. MACLEAR is planning its return tour to the UK, Scandinavia and Europe for the spring of 2002. But not quite the same, as before.

Having played on the fence of Celtic Folk, Alternative Pop and R&B for the last six years, MACLEAR is preparing to return to his Blues roots and Slide Guitar work in earnest. A talent which found him, fame with well known acts around the world in the '70s and '80s. The new act will be called 'THE BIG BLUE MAC.' A CD will be available at the end of 2002 and American performances of this Blues exploration will be coming as early as Feb.

Tom is also now busy with his new company Meg Films. Making films is a medium he has been close to for over 25 years and now a new medium allows him to express himself in numerous ways. Click on to the 'Meg Films' link for more details.

Tom MacLear leaves Los Angeles on Jun 24th for a twenty day, 15-city promotional tour of Ireland, Scotland, England and Sweden.

DUBLIN, GALWAY, DERRY, ABERDEEN, DUNDEE, EDINBURGH, LONDON, STOCKHOLM, ORNSKOLKDSVIK, FALUN, STOCKHOLM, LONDON.

Due to festival sponsor pullouts in Ireland and Scotland, a few of MACLEAR's projected concert appearances were cancelled. But radio, press, television and recently confirmed live appearances will give MACLEAR even a greater exposure in Ireland and the U.K.

MacLear will then join his drummer Kirk Arthur in Stockholm for the second leg of the tour.

Tom and Kirk will travel north to Ornskoldsvik where they will rehearse and record with guitarist Mats Bystrom, bass player Anders Ronnblomm and backing vocalist 'Crystal.' These tracks will appear on the next MACLEAR CD, scheduled for a winter release.

After a week of fun and games, MACLEAR will have several live appearances in Sweden, before returning to London for a BBC interview.

Due to MACLEAR's desire to record tracks for the next CD, MACLEAR has chosen to push his previously planned performances in Norway and Germany to the upcoming (full-band) Winter Tour 2001-2002.

MACLEAR -4- RELEASE MACLEAR -4- RELEASE MACLEAR -4-

On Mar 2nd, 2001, MACLEAR -4- was released with limited distribution through 10 territories including the UK, Ireland, Germany, Austria, France, Switzerland, Italy, Spain and Slovokia/Czech Republic.

The CD was digitally recorded at MEG Studios in Los Angeles. Due to Tom MacLear's schedule conflicts, he was unable to record this wonderful work at the Studio he helped create with his friend Lasse Dhalqvist in Sweden. with the overwhelming response to this long awaited recording there is a very good chance that while Tom is on the road this Jun/Jul in the UK and Europe, more songs could be recorded at Church Garden Studios / Sweden for another MACLEAR release hopefully before the end of this year.

MACLEAR enjoyed the talents of a few special guest artists on MACLEAR -4-. Eric Rigler performed Uilean Pipes on several selections. Eric is another ex-Rod Stewart band member (but is sure to work with Rod again in the near future). Eric also performed the pipes for Phil Collins and Barbara Streisand, in addition to sound score work, one notable mention being "Braveheart."

Thom Mooney (MACLEAR's drummer of seven years), formerly with The Naz, Todd Rundgren and Rita Coolidge, performed drums and bodhran on three selections before leaving MACLEAR. the rest of the CD enjoys the talents of Tom's close friend Kirk Arthur Trachsel (drummer for Chuck Berry and many other notables). Fiddler Michael Starr was featured on numerous selections. Tom MacLear himself performed all other instruments.

MACLEAR -4- was mastered by Jim Mona of Jammrr Productions (Los Angleles). Mastering was done at Johnny Lee Schells studio (2nd guitarist for Bonnie Raitt and Tom's old acquaintance Ronnie Wood). With the latest, state of the art speakers and mastering equipment, Jim Mona put some amazing final touches to a work of art that has now blossomed into a thousand colours.

Before the long awaited CD -4- release, MACLEAR found time to perform here and there these last two years. One memorable night was shared with Robbie Krieger and his L.A. Doors.

MACLEAR also found great pleasure in performing for his good friend's wedding. Gordon Waller and his love Goergie tied the knot. Then the jam was on. Sharing the microphone was Peter Asher, John York (The Byrds), Spencer Davis, Terry Reid and many more. Oh what a night!
